I was worried about The Wings in the playoffs, with no real physical presents, I thought that they would have a tough time in the playoffs. Then one day, I discovered that Detroit got a hold of two new players. Tod Bertuzzi, and Kyle Calder. Bertuzzi has not played yet due to a bad back, but next Thursday he is supposed to suit up. Kyle Calder however, has made quite an impact. Scoring on his first shift and first shot. Since then he has had a handful of assists and a goal I believe. But, I believe that Bertuzzi is the Physical presence that Detroit Needed, And I also think that same Physical Game-style will help them get deeper in the playoffs. Then again, its playoff hockey and ANYTHING can happan.

Uuuuh... dude? This isn't a question. What exactly are you asking here?

That said, I hope you are right. I'm a Wings fan, but I do not really share your optimism. I think Bertuzzi is a potential plague to our team. Yeah, he is a physical force... if he isn't hurt. But what good does he do us if he doesn't play? Then say he comes back. Which Bertuzzi are we going to really get? He has not really been a big star in four years. He has been plagued by inconsistency. He has taken bad penalties.

Calder has some potential, though I wouldn't call him the second coming of Keith Tkachuk or anything. There is a reason we got him so easily: he has been a big disappointment. He wasn't good enough to stay in Chicago or Philly? Hmm... I need to be convinced. Most players have a brief spike in their production when they first are traded. It often does not last. We'll see.

Don't get me wrong. I still have high hopes for the Wings in the playoffs, but I am not convinced that Bertuzzi and Calder are going to be the difference.

You're right, Calder has looked good since he got here and I think Robert Lang has been playing better since they've added Calder. Bertuzzi is a bit of a risk, but I believe it's a good one. The Wings didn't give up much to get him so if he doesn't work out, they haven't lost anything. I certainly don't think either one will be a liability. Ken Holland has pulled off some great deals before and I trust him to know what he's doing. We can only keep our finger crossed and hope both of them will help in the playoffs, but the Wings need to get Datsuyk, Zetterberg, Lang, Holmstrom and a few others going and not just rely on the two new guys. Hasek and Osgood better be ready, too! I can't wait! Playoff hockey is the best! Go Wings!

Bertuzzi became down a $22.4 over 5 years from Holland to settle for much less money to play for Burke in Anaheim (in accordance to Devellano) Calder became one in all my final draft alternatives and he's been a non-existent participant because he left the Hawks Lang says he became in no way extremely delicate in Detroit, nor have I considered a great quantity of love for him as a Wing on those boards Markov needed too plenty money for a 31 year previous defenceman. Schneider might relatively have been an progression over various the babies, yet you could desire to play them quicker or later and Schneider's departure made that easier. None of those gamers, different than for Bertuzzi, might have made a great distinction to Detroit. this might nicely be a team which will probably win the President's Cup (i don't see Columbus beating them) with out any of them, and has the capacity and adventure to win the Stanley Cup.

Detroit's chances rest squarely on the groin of often injured Hasek. If he stays healthy, they go 2 rounds easily. If not they go bye-bye real fast. The West is full of strong teams with good goaltending which without Hasek would be the Wing's Achilles heel.

The question is?.........

Detroits biggest problem is that Robert Lang turns the puck over constantly.... I honestly think that he thinks its a pancake.

Calder... So far so good... but again, unproven.

Bertuzzi... (the felon)
1) hasnt been worth anything in 3 years
2) who knows how good his back will hold up
3) he may end up being comeback player of the year
with him, you dont know..... roll the dice wings fans. its a gamble.

Good Luck.....Bertuzzi may play but the back is nothing to mess around with, he may need cortizone to play.
