They are a bunch of two faced a s swipes aren't they - they fight to protect animals and then when someone steps in and does the same thing they want to put the poor thing down - perhaps one or two of us should find them and threaten them with a baseball bat or something - like they do to others.
Bunch of two faced hypocrites!

This supposedly "AR activist" has no idea. Asylum seekers are not living too comfortably in detention centres, but would he suggest that we kill them all? I think not. So how can he suggest something similar in the case of non-human animals without being speciesist?
"If a polar bear mother rejected the baby, then I believe the zoo must follow the instincts of nature," Albrecht said. "In the wild, it would have been left to die."
Interesting. So I suppose this bright "AR activist" would also leave abandoned human babies to die as well? Wouldn't they also die "in the wild"? Once again...speciesist.
True animal rights activists would never demand that any non-human animal be killed unless he is suffering from an incurable illness which causes severe pain.
For all we know, this idiot who suggested that the bear be killed could have been invented to create a “media hype”. In any case, what I’m sure of is that this self-styled “animal rights activist” is a fake.
I oppose zoos (unless the “zoos” are sanctuaries), but I would never suggest that animals kept at zoos be killed. Neither would any other real animal rights campaigner.
So please, don’t judge a whole movement on the actions of one individual who is not part of it. Would anyone claim that “human rights activists murder children” if someone falsely claiming that he is a human rights activist demands that a child be killed? I think not.
Animal rights campaigners don’t murder animals.
Now regarding the additional comment: You say that years ago animal activists raided a local mink farm and set the mink free. Your wife had about 400 chickens the minks homed in on and decimated them. So by saving about 20 minks they killed 400 chickens. You ask: "What right did the animal rights people have to kill all the chickens. The mink never killed the chickens for food even".
First of all, like I said already, the actions of one or a few individuals are not at all representative of what a whole movement is about. Some Christians bomb abortion clinics and kill doctors who perform abortions. Are all Christians murderers? Of course not! In the example you mention, while the intention was probably good (releasing minks who otherwise would have been murdered), the activists in question perhaps did not think well about the consequences, which, as you say, resulted in the minks killing the chickens.
Of course, most probably, you would have killed the chickens anyway...but let's not get into that.
Your original question was whether animal rights activists have the right to demand that a polar bear to be murdered (I don't use the phrase "put down", it's a misnomer). I am an animal rights activist, and like most animal rights activists (I would dare say more than 99%), the answer is an unequivocal NO. The person who suggested that the bear be killed is an idiot who has no idea on what animal rights is really about.
This is about the polar bear, and not about animal right activists, isn't it? Let's not quarrel on things we agree on.
Now, regarding the comment "I think the animal rights people should be put down", you do realise you are advocating murder, don't you? I oppose all unnecessary killing of non-human animals, but I would never suggest the murder of any human being. I think I'm being very reasonable, don't you think so?
And whoever did it, thanks for the thumbs-down. It won't change the truth though.

Ok the animal rights activist say its not natural to have the polar bears be fed by hand but if we're really getting down on what's natural or not then it's not exactly natural for polar bears to be locked up in a zoo... I think it's absolutely ludicrous they want the cute cub to be put down and I hope this is a battle they don't win.

I read that story in todays Daily Mail and I think it's absolutley ridiculous!
How dare they demand for it to be put down, do they have some way to see into the bears mind and know that it's unhappy? I doubt it!
It's a healthy and beautiful polar bear and they zoo should just keep it. It will also attract attention to the zoo and lead to more people becoming aware of the plight of the polar bear due to global warming.
Stupid animal activists...

I'm really surprised they want him killed, it may not be the best way to bring the bear up domesticated but I'd have thought with them being animal rights activists that they would have preferred that to killing him, I'm into (peaceful) animal rights myself and i really hope poor polar bear gets the right to live, I'm against the activists on this one.

This article is giving animal rights supporters a bad name.
It is reported that the comment comes from a German animal rights group. However I cannot believe any UK animal rights supporter would support killing a healthy animal.

We need to stop interfering with natures course. Animals abandon their young all the time and we are the cause of the near extinction.

They don't have any rights at all. They are not democratically elected, so, who gives a damn what they think. Come to think of it, why do I know what they think. Best ignored.
