Apparently, the participation level is much better than people who vote in the regular way. What do you think?

I believe so. I think that it would save money on gas, and nobody could use the excuse that they were busy on that day. The only problem is that the government would probably have to monitor the phones to make sure that nobody vote more than once

No, because there would be no easy way to verify who called and whether or not computers were used to call multiple times very quickly.

Even if you could guarantee it was completely secure and verifiable, you would still have people probably get confused about which number to choose for which person and they would cry fowl that their vote didn't count.

Or in the situation where the telephone systems couldn't handle the volume you would also have people questioning whether there vote got through.

And even if all votes could get through 100% you would still have people cry fowl if their person didn't win and say that their vote must not have made it.

And then the elderly sometimes get confused with automated phone systems (like calling in a prescription) and would need assistance or a place to vote in person still.

No, because someone could mess up the phone lines and use multiple phones in the same place to vote for 1 preffered candidate.
