I go to Cancun as part of work almost every 2 months if not more, weather changes all the time, sometimes it's forcasted as Sunny and it pours all day or sometimes it says rain and it's sunny all day =( I wouldn't worry, just look out for hurricances..........keep CNN on here and there to keep yourself informed.

=)

hello,
i go really tired of that hurricane-talk as soon as it comes to cancun and the riviera maya.
i do live in the riviera-maya (cancun area) since almost 12 years and fact is:
in the last 41 (forty-one) years the area (not only cancun) had:
1966 "Inez"...passed by more than 50 miles away.cancun as a tourist resort didn't even exist at that time.
1988 "Gilbert"....cancun get hit.
1995 "Roxanne"...very weak hurricane falls land in the middle of nowhere (close to belize).no damage what so ever.
2005 "Wilma"....playa del carmen and cancun were hit.

in my 12 years here i had one (1) hurricane and a very few tropical storms...which are harmless.

yes,it is hurricane season for all the caribbean AND FLORIDA till the end of october....but the chance to be at the wrong time in the wrong place is soooo small.

there is nobody in the entire world who will be able to tell you how the weather will be like.if there is such a person out there i'm sure he/she will make a fortune soon.you can be lucky and it doesn't rain for a minute....if your are not that lucky it may rains for a few hours during the week....and if you do have very bad luck it's bucketing down the entire time.who knows? hurricane? well, isn't there an english saying: when it rains,it pours?
don't worry about the weather...you'll not gonna change it anyways.
you will have a great time here...enjoy it.
greetings from playa del carmen,
cancundivers

pardon my english....i'm german.

We went last year Sept 29-Oct 2 and had wonderful weather. It did not rain at all until we were leaving for the airport coming home. The temperature was just right. The only time we got hot was when we went downtown to the market and could not get the breeze. It was windy while we were there, but I think that is why we didn't get to hot. It was not crowded at this time either which was great. Hope you have a great time. You can check out the website below and it will give you stats on the weather at the time you are going, but it said it would rain everyday last year and it only rained that one time.

A little risky because of hurricane season. If storms do develop this is the time of year most likely. The gulf water is cooking and that fuels the hurricanes. I have been in Cancun in October and we had great weather. If that's the time you can get away, just take out travel insurance to cover you. You will have plenty of warning before a storm arrives.
Have a great trip.

You will be going during peak Hurricane season.
I would not recommend it, personally.
we went to cancun oct '05 and we were hit by Hurricaine Wilma.
It was bizzarre.... so many young ppl just acted like it would be a cool storm and a great story to go home with ( and that part may be true)
but ppl thought theyd be a day or two late getting home from thier vacations- but ended up having to wait 16 days to be flown out as the roads had been taken out by the storm. As it was, my wife was very very ill- and in case nobody asked, Dr's dont make house calls during hurricaines. If you go duing hurricane season, you take your chances. good luck
