This has happened to me at least twice on two different microwaves. There is an expensive part called the "actuator" I believe I remember it by. It is what heats the whole dang thing. It is as expensive as the whole unit. Both times mine went out, I just ended up getting a new one for only a few bucks more. Good luck.

It's done. It's cheaper to buy a new one than to fix. The component that generates the "heat" is now "Toast". I doubt you can even get the part now, and it wouldn't be worth the time or expense.
Since the table turns and the light comes on, it's not the fuse.

Yes you can fix it.... depending on whats wrong it might not be worth it...If the fuse is blowed to the transformer just replace it with an exact replacement ...if it still will not work after that i would recommend buying a new microwave as a new transformer and magnetron tube could cost in excess of one hundred dollars

It is probably the microwave emitter that is shot. I see 20yo microwaves in the Bargain hunter newspaper & on ebay for about $10.00 to $25.00 so it is probably not worth trying to fix.
You can usually buy a new Microwave for under $100.00 now so if it were me, I would put the 20yo Kenmore in the recycling bin, & get a new one that is probably more energy efficient anyway.

It sounds like the machine is having a hard time processing the wave part of your light waves. Unless you know a lot about the mechanics of fixing a microwave I suggest just buying a cheap new one. I would not want a microwave explosion. Usually you can find cheap used ones or even a cheep new one for 40 bucks. check wallmart.com or craigslist.org or even a rummage sale.

It sounds like the fuse inside the unit blew. My husband has fixed my before and it only took a few minuets to fix. all you need is a screw driver and a fuse(you know the glass kind that has silver looking metal on both ends.

No, I doubt you can even get parts for it anymore. You can also get shocked on the high voltage capacitors, even if it is unplugged. You will be able to buy a new Microwave for what you would have to pay for a magnatron.

...there may be a "reset" button or switch in the back or under the cover or a fuse... if not you'll need to take it to the repair guy.
