I think it is somewhat difficult for African Americans to deal with black or mixed people who don't share their heritage. I am not sure that most understand that we don't share the same cultural heritage. We don't speak the same, we don't eat the same foods and our experiences are not the same. When I first came to this country it took me a while to feel comfortable. I was ostracized by Afro Americans who thought I was putting on airs and graces and "acting white" whatever that means. My transition period was very difficult. Once I was accepted as a person and not just as a black/mixed person, all was well.
By the way, Papi, you're an idiot.

I actually think that it is the other way around sometimes. I like West Indian people but not the ones who think that they are better than me. I have even been told by Caribbean people I know that it's kind of in their culture to think that they are better than African Americans. If you read some history you will find out that the Jamaicans I think, were the first to break the color line to be hired in textile or some other type of factories because they didn't consider themselves black. So I guess that's why some W. Indians don't like us because they do not think they are black and somehow they are superior for that reason.

But I have Trini, Guayanese, and Jamaican friends
and mi love all mi friends dem zeen?! That's patois for those that don't know it means "I love all my friends understand?!"
