When I go to wireless connections, none appear and then I click on the refresh button and it tell me to switch on the wireless switch by going to the functions, but, I don't see the wireless icon.

Well, the original CPx series is too old to come with built in wireless. So there will not be a "switch" persay. Even if this particular model came with wireless built in, it would probably be 802.11a and incompatible with most wireless networks.

Did you install a wireless adapter on the machine? If not, you most likely do not have wireless capability.

There is no wireless on a CPx. You have to buy a PCMCIA wirelss adaptor.
