I have a brick retaining wall that has loose bricks. Lots of them! How do I replace the bricks in the wall. There's no breaks or big cracks. The bricks have just come loose and the mortor is either stuck to the brick or the brick still in the wall. Does the old mortor have to be chipped off and how is that done. Can it be done easily? And what do you use to correctly replace the brick in the wall to stay. Do you use a sealer after its been repaired?
Thanks

1- take out all loose bricks
2- clean bricks surface from old mortar by chiesel &hammer
3- prepare suitable amount of mortar or (non-shrinkage grout)
4- put a suitable amount the mortar or grout and flating it then replace a brick , put grout on both sides
5- repeat the same for all bricks
6- let it min. 3 days for curing , if normal mortar is used spray bricks with water before replacing and after 12 hours to avoid hair cracks in new mortar

I had that problem and called a professional to come and tuck-point the wall for me. I'd look in your local phone book for a mason or even a general handyman with masonry experience.
