Just thought I would join the fun. Since conservatives like to blame Clinton for all of Bush's failings, I thought I'd point out once again that the worst foreign terror attack ever to happen on U.S. soil happened while Bush was President.

Take the heat, neocons.

By the way, knee-jerkers... I never blamed Bush for it. You filled that in all on your own. In fact, I DON'T believe ANY American is responsible.

I just thought I'd be as ridiculous as some of you are being.

You know Bush could have prevented 9/11. There were well documented warnings. As far as Clinton having any responsibility for a couple of guys riding a motor boat loaded with explosives into the USS Cole is absurd. S*** happens. Oklahoma city could have happened at anytime. How about Bush dropping the ball with Katrina? There was highly publicized warning of the storm and Bush didn't act for 3 days because he was on vacation. What's going to happen if another Republican/Neocon comes into office after Bush? Are you still going to be blaming Clinton for everything going on from 2008 to 2012??? It's pathetic. Show me any documentation of warnings given to Clinton and I'll show a laundry list of warnings given to Bush prior to the attacks. Bush did nothing. His negligence and lies have resulted in thousands of deaths. Clinton's administration wasn't responsible for even 1/10th as Bush yet you people still point the finger at Clinton. It's rather pathetic.

And this is Bush's fault? Its about as much Bush's fault as the bombing of the USS Cole, or the 1993 attack of the World Trade Center was Clinton's fault. Why don't we blame the people who actually perpetrated the act? If I'm not mistaken, that would be 19 extremists from the middle east who did this. I don't understand why we blame our leaders for things that happen to our country?

Maybe its about time we quit playing politics with these horrible events and start coming up with ways to prevent further attacks. You know like using our intelligence agencies who used to have spies on the ground, instead of spy satellites thousands of miles in space. Or maybe bring back that little thing called diplomacy where parties on either side give something in return for something else.

We as a country do not rule this world and it is not what we say goes. We need to remember that we are part of a world community and what's good for us is more than likely going to be good for others...if we let them in on it. We need to forget about all this pissing and moaning from both sides of the aisle and actually get something done.

But alas it would seem by todays political climate I am but a dreamer. So I ask this then, who will dream with me? Maybe someday we can actually make a difference, as for now, the two major parties seem to have a stranglehold on everything and both of them are quite content to not get anything done as long as they are the only two powers here. Thanks and have a nice day.

The US is hit on home soil (or an established military base) by foreign terrorists roughly every 7-9 years. That's the historical average going back to the 1960s.

So, Bush doesn't get blamed for having a terrorist attack happen according to statistical average, any more than he would get credit for it not happening since then.

Al Qaeda was busy during the Clinton Administration; the group took responsibility for the attack on the World Trade Center in 1993, the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole, the attacks on two U.S. military barracks in Saudi Arabia, the bombing of two U.S. Embassies in Africa, and the attacks on United States soldiers in Somalia.Bin Laden claimed responsibility for six terrorist attacks on Americans during Clinton's years as president. All our terrorist problems were born during the Clinton years. After the six attacks, a total of 75 missiles were launched, no troops were deployed, and no extra covert agents were deployed.Bin Laden was basically told that he could kill Americans with no repercussions. It was this message that Clinton showed that allowed bin Laden to orchestrate the attacks of September 11th. Also, when the Sudanese government got tired of protecting bin Laden, they offered to give him to Clinton, but Clinton refused.
It was said by former Clinton advisor Dick Morris that, Clinton was an utter and total failure. The statement refers to Clinton's unwillingness to remedy the problem of international terrorism. Much has been said and written about Clinton, but facts are facts, and the facts show that Clinton did not protect America from terrorism, in particular Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden explained the purpose of the group in an interview in May of 1997, he declared a jihad, a holy war, against the United States government because it is, according to him, unjust, criminal, and tyrannical. Clinton was made aware of this group but did little or nothing about it .Throughout these attacks, Clinton did nothing to protect America or her citizens; in fact he sabotaged America's ability to protect herself. Clinton incapacitated America by weakening the counter-terror organizations, overusing diplomacy, and simply ignoring the problem of international terrorism.Clinton weakened the armed forces by under-funding ,over-politicizing and spreading them thinner than any president had ever done before. He bogged down with political correctness to keep his special interest constituents happy,
instituting a stress card system in boot camp. In this system, if a recruit was stressed he or she could flash a yellow card to the Drill Sergeant and would be exempt from the exercise. How will a soldier be able to stop terrorists if they can wimp through boot camp? President Clinton lowered the level of Special Forces training so that more women could join.

It was the Federal Bureau of Investigation agent John O'Neil that first connected Usama bin Laden to the rise in Islamic radicalism, specifically the terrorist actions of Muslims. O'Neil told officials in 1997,
"When bin Laden, speaks we have to listen. They have the capability to strike American soil any time they choose.
Then on September 10, 2001, O'Neil said,
It's going to happen. And it looks like something big is brewing."

You are right. On Clinton's watch it was the USS COLE, the Marine Barracks, 2 Embassies and all of these were done without any meaningful reprisals. Yes Bush failed but so did the people before him. This sore just festers without doing anything to fix it and at least Bush is doing something. Bush is still falling short on issues like immigration but he is at least trying to do something about the Islamic nut balls.

I hope you are not offended but your premise is simple ignorance and shows that you have never really learned the facts or studied the subject much. You can go back to Carter and follow right on through to Clinton to find fault with each president along the way to show the failings or lack of interest they had in dealing with terrorism.

Carter - Moscow subway bombing, Statue of Liberty story room bombing, Lufthansa flight LH 181 was kidnapped, Arab Revolutionary Council poison Israeli oranges with mercury, Sunni militant group of 1,300 to 1,500 men seized the Grand Mosque in Mecca Saudi Arabia, Iranian hostage crises.

Bush 1 - Pan Am Flight 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland, Avianca Flight 203, PLF and PLO attacks in Israel on U.S. Embassy and Israeli beaches, Assassination of Meir Kahane in New York, Israeli Embassy bombing in Argentina.

Clinton - Mir Aimal Kansi, a Pakistani, fires an AK-47 assault rifle into cars waiting at a stoplight in front of the CIA, 1st World Trade Center bombing, Mumbai car bombings in India, Suicide bomber in Colombo, Sri Lanka kills Sri Lankan President, Cave of the Patriarchs massacre, Bombing of Jewish Center in Buenos Aires, Air France Flight 8969, Sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway, Oklahoma City bombing, Ali Abu Kamal opens fire on tourists at an observation deck atop the Empire State Building, 1998 Coimbatore bombings, LTTE bombs the sacred Buddhist shrine, Russian Apartment Bombings kills about 300 people, 2000 millennium attack plots, U.S. embassy bombings in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya, killing 225, USS Cole bombing.

Note Abu's answer, and others above: it took years to plan this attack, which means Clinton should have been getting fewer bj's and paying more attention to the threats against this nation. Plus, how about the WTC car bombing, the USS Cole being attacked, the numerous US embassies being attacked, etc. Get a clue.
