To clarify Kathryn's answer, the Christian religions per se do not explain evolution, and many religious Christians don't believe in evolution. That said, many practicing Christians *DO* accept evolution, but do not attempt to reconcile the apparent conflict between evolution and the biblical creation story.

Christians believe that God said 'Let there be light' and the earth was made. He decided it needed people so he created Adam and Eve, and humanity was born.
