I think this is so funny because about 8 years ago me and my hubby was going through the same thing with naming our son. He wanted the name Tristan but I told him no because I said he would be made fun of and kids will call him "Triscuit Crackers". We ended up naming him after his Daddy and 7 years later our 2nd son came. Knowing this is our last child I agreed with the name Tristan. I have heard so many people with that name now, it's kinda funny, I have come to really like the name. You two have to agree on a name that you both like, I really like the name Dylan it is such a popular name I think. If you really love the name maybe you can add it for a middle name and have your hubby pick the first name or agree on one you both like. Good Luck and Congrats!

I have never heard of this as a general term for a "stupid person." Did he mean it was the name of a specific child that wasn't so bright in his school?
I think it is a cute name ... although it is quite popular and your child will probably have a few friends with the name as well.
What names does your husband like? Maybe you could compromise and if he has a name you like as well, Dylan could be the middle name.

haha well I'm in high school and there are lots of Dylan's. The one I'm most familiar with is a really popular guy... it's a very common name by the way. There is one homosexual kid named Dylan lol but don't think the name has anything to do with it. It's a cool name, I like it myself.... It means "of the sea" and it's welsh

I definitely don't think that about Dylan BUT I think you should choose another name.
You can't help what you associate names with because it is all about your personal experiences in life. He obviously met someone that seemed stupid to him named Dylan. I have names that are beautiful but I can't stand them because of associations I make. Since I teach preschool I have lots of them actually. :)
Your husband will always not care for the name. :(
Names along the same lines as Dylan you both may like: Aiden, Jacob, Owen, Logan, Gavyn, Evan, Ethan...

This is going to sound crazy, but I have been a Tae Kwon Do Instuctor for over 6 years now...and I've worked with HUNDREDS, nay, THOUSANDS of kids.
Dylans, Dillons, etc are ALWAYS trouble. They are good-hearted on the inside...but the hyperactivity and violent/rebellious nature is too much to handle.
I cannot think of one Dylan that I've taught that hasn't had a behavioral problem. There's a lot of names out there. I'd keep away from that one.
Stay away from Austin, Tristan, and Josh as well.

Well, I think Dylan is a good name. There have only been 2 Dylans I know and one is a jerk that I went to school with and they other was a pot head that I went to school with lol.
But I am sure your Dylan will be great! =-] I think that name is fine, but if your husband really dosnt like it maybe you should re-think... I mean it would be bad if he told his own child " You know, your name reminds me of this boy I knew and he was stupid" I dont think that would go over well. =-] hehe What about
- Shaye
- Brian
- Brandon
- Jeff
- Paul
- Frank
- John
- Matt
- Jorge
- Dalton
Like any of em?
Message me if ya do! =-]

I have never heard that before, it isn't common knowledge for sure. I like the name Dylan too, I like it spelled Dillon or Dyllon though. It is a good choice.

I've never heard that before. Must be a regional thing. I love the name Dylan. It's quite popular so it can't be such a bad word.

My nephew is named Dylan Peyton, so I disagree with your hubby. But, many people started using that name when twins Cole and Dylan Sprouse, became famous...So its pretty common.
