My Fiance and I just moved into our new home this weekend. Sadly it has not been kept in good condition or been occupied in over a year. There is dust everywhere! In the vents on the windows, on the floors and I just cant seem to get rid of it all. I suffer from allergies to dust so any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Oh dear! And boy can I sympathsize: I'm prone to sneezing. Which means that dust is no friend of mine.

Since you have allergies, you'll want to wear a painter's mask. Start with giving everything a good vacuuming. Then go in with a bucket of sudsy water and the needed cleaning impliments such as brushes and rags, and wash everything. Be prepared to get new water frequently. This will take a while, but it will be worth it. If there is carpet, either shampoo it or tear it out if you think the carpet and padding have started disintegrating. Then go back again and wash the windows with vinegar.

Clean the air ducts in your house, and either clean or replace the filters in your furnace and air conditioner. Consider investing in an air purifier.

You might even want to call in a trusted friend or two to help with this project.

Good luck!

If you have forced air heat and ac call a heating and air company ask for quotes on cleaning the ducts and vents and maintenance to them. then you clean one room at a time with a good vaccum and a face mask. and make sure to dust walls doorways and light fixtures with the hose.

vacumn it out, i have a vacumn with a water based filter, that works great for that stuff, as it does not put the dust back in the air, just did my cellar, with all the old spideys and yucky stuff. if cant borrow one of those, i would go with the shop vac idea.
good luck

I'd start with a shop vac with a long hose.

Good luck
