Here is the exact question: "People in academia are often characterized as having lots of book knowledge and little in the way of "street smarts" or genuinely useful knowledge. In your essay, describe to what extent you think this is true and, if true, to what extent it is a good or bad thing. Describe what you could do with yourself to support or modify that perception."

I need help!!! I have no idea what im going to write. The essay can be any sort of essay. I am going to deny that it is true. This essay is for a college class. Any ideas?

I would disagree and say that it is true, as far as stereotypes go. A stereotype is, after all, just that. So there are exceptions, but in general someone well schooled and educated tends to not have the benefit of the school of hard knocks.

i tend to believe the statement....but if you want to deny it...maybe work with the fact that street smarts require alot of common sense which every mature adult....whether academic or not are capable of
