living organisms?

Why would development of living organisms not have occured on earth without liquid water?

a.) liquid water was required to cool the earths crust
b.) the oxygen organisms need for respiration can only come from the oxygen in water
c.) water is required for the formation of cell membranes
d.) living organisms must drink water

* i was stuck on this one, just when i think i know the answer, i read up on another one and it confuses, me, now i hav eno clue. Thanks for your help everyone ahead of time :)
