Because in the 18th and 19th centuries when a lot of these were built, rich young men from the UK went to Europe and visited countries like Italy, Greece and France as part of their education. It was known as the 'Grand Tour'.
They saw buildings like the Parthenon in Athens and were so impressed they adopted the architectural style, i.e. Classical, when they got back home and also exported it to other countries e.g. America.
One of the best examples of the Georgian Classical architectural style (c.1750-1820) in the UK is the City of Bath, a World Heritage Site.
Unfortunately the property developers of the time were so anxious to make a mint with their then state-of-the art buildings that they knocked down a lot of far older properties that today would be heralded as architectural gems.

The Greco-Romano style of building has authority. It looks solid and it looks like it's been there for a very long time. Also, the Greeks and Romans still influence our thinking, even today.
Here's a Greek question. What is it about a nude statue that makes you think it is beautiful? The answer is that the Greeks first thought of this idea and so created statues of naked male and female athletes - they were far better looking than the average person. They in effect became the models of their time. Our idea of beauty is based upon Greek ideas.
In the USA the military study the Roman Army. Why? Because it is the longest lasting army in human history. We can learn a great deal from the Romans.
One more small point. English law is based upon a mix of Roman as well as Anglo Saxon law with add ons. Same thing in the States.

It's the fashions of the time, buildings are built to suit a style that is popular, obviously grecian architecture was popular at the time that these buildings were created. The same is true of buildings everywhere, such as edwardian and victorian style houses, just a popular 'fashion' of the time!

It is the same as the Rolls Royce radiator on their cars, it is known as the ideal aspect ratio. This means that the ratio of height to width is very pleasing to the the eye, top it with a triangle and it seems totally symmetrical. This design has been copied for generations.

Greece was the earliest Democracy that we know of. Therefore it seemed appropriate that these countries should emulate their buildings, since they are both the same.

Hello,
Because both our leaders serve Greek gods.
Really, they do. Or, they serve other gods that are not the God I serve.
Look for websites on secret societies, go to Alex Jones or Radio Liberty. Listen to some of the disgusting things our nations leaders are doing to us, all in the name of their gods.
Hope this helps you................... : -O
