How can you group a whole country into a box? I'm sorry if you had a bad experience with an American but how can you blame the whole country, I don't think the whole country did you wrong.

You are probably basing your opinion of all Americans on an interaction you had with a small group of people. You can't blame a whole nation for the mistakes or transgressions of a few. Maybe if we knew what kind of Americans you were dealing with, we wouldn't like them either.
When framing your question, you should have been more specific, namely, if you got into a hassle with a group of drunk American tourists, you should have asked, "Why do some Americans get obnoxious when they are drunk?"
See what I mean? Then you wouldn't get these stupid blanket statements. Rephrase your question, and tell us what is bothering you or what happened to you. Then you might get some logical answers and some legitimate help with your problem. Good luck to you, and I hope something good happens to change your mind.

So far I know through my experiences, Americans are very obnoxious people in this world. They are very self-righteous and self-centered in so many way shape and form. They never want to be blamed or accused by anything. If you are Americans, you always hold the right keys. You are faultless and blameless. So that's Americans. You really cannot criticize them at all or else you get crankiness only. I am not saying here that all Americans are like that, but generally and typically they are. Take it or leave it. But better leave it. Lol.

You can't blame them for being defensive their media airs all the dirty laundry and they end up looking brainless.
Not that they are! they are decent, hardworking and nice people when you get to know them individually. But their media displays them as hateful and their leaders no matter what political party as inept.
A country's media should be for their own country, showing all the flaws doesn't make them respected. Yet people from all over the world want to live there or gets their doctoring from them. I guess more people know real Americans than their network gurus, who live in windowless offices in New York City, clueless.

You might have certain real-life experiences, but lumping all of us in with the unfortunate people you've met is unfair to us as individuals.
I'm not sure where you're from, but most certainly, I won't judge you based on your homeland, but instead on how you interact with me, on a personal basis.
IMO, generalization is what's wrong with Americans. If we could all stop labeling each other, and start looking at what each individual has to offer, we'd all be in better shape.

Well, think about it, we are a young country , and I think maybe we are in an adolesant stage now, like a teenager, thinking that we are invincible, I do feel we are a great place to live, but we certainly have a long way to go on a maturity level. Although our overall acceptance on a worldly scale is negative, I believe our freedom is admired by many, and unfortunately there is alot of abuse on that as well. I think in ten years from now, we will be better and the Iraq war will prove to be a milestone in our intellecual development.

Not really sure what your question is. Americans are feeling very prideful and hurt over 911. I dont think that anyone in this country will ever get over that or forgive it. I once saw a bumper sticker that said "for a small town there sure are a lot of assholes". Same goes for America or anywhere for that matter. What are you going to do? Thats just how it is. Assholes are a dime a dozen where I come from. It seems to me like they are the ones running the show. Not a lot to do about it. Just live with it. Sorry. Lifes rough.

It could be your experience that triggers a reaction. Maybe your experience just rubs people the wrong way. You could have been the real culprit and people don't want to hear excuses or blame if you're the one really at fault.

According to Quintillian, if a man is mortal, and every greek is a man, then, according to this theory, every Greek is mortal. Am I right? YES I AM. But this dont necesserily goes with everything around. if Americans are rich, it doesn't mean that John, who lives in the subberbs, is rich also. This implies to character also. if the American(s) you know ia bad, it doesn't mean that every American is bad!

Are living in America? Did you dome here legally?
If you honestly answered yes to both those questions then you have a right to a reasonable discussion. If not then too bad. If you had a proiblem with an American visiting your country then you should have called that person on it. Do not bring me your problems with someone being an A$$hole. I got enough problems like that of my own most of them with illegal Mexicans who think I owe them something for them breaking the laws of my country!
