A very good question.
I don't know what the medical term is called, but some say I have the same personality. I am suffering from PTSD and Depression for well over 12 yrs. I am under treatment, but within that time period I have cut off all emotional ties from all family and friends.
I was told that this happens because it is a self-defense mechanism to protect myself from people who for some reason or another disappoint me. It seems they are not living up to my specifications on matters in life. When someone does me wrong, or does something I disapprove of, I tend to shut them out of my life. It could be a person, business, or organization of some sort. When this happens I become depressed and find fault in them, thus shut them out.
If you are doing this, seek help! It could be depression, or some mental desease.

I think you become that way after an overdose of disappointments and/or hardships, I geuss I'm kinda like that, and was told I have a stoic personality, buy someone who never spends time with me.
