Its your IP address having problems. Right click and then click on repair. It will renew your IP address and clear the cache

If your computer is in stand-by too long, it could lose its IP address. When the computer is on standby it is not talking to the network. Eventually the server on the network, if it is a busy one, or the computer is offline for a long time, will give the address to someone else. But when your computer wakes up from stand-by, it doesn't know this, it thinks it still has the old address.

Also some wireless cards can get confused if the computer is put on standby and then woken up. When you click "repair", part of what the computer does is reset the wireless card (bring the interface down, then up again).

The "repair" process isn't smart. But Windows knows that these steps -- resetting the network interface, renewing the IP address, etc. -- resolves the majority of basic "stuck network" problems. It doesn't do anything magical or permanent. It's about the equivalent of whacking an old TV on the side to fix the picture.

Well, first I would suggest you to reinstall the Power management, then install the latest Wireless card drivers as well as the latest BIOS for the laptop.

The wireless card drivers as well as the BIOS update will be available on the Manufacturers web site.

Coming to the reinstallation of the Power Management, try the following steps:

1. Connect the AC power adapter to the notebook then remove the battery.

2. Press the Power button to restart the computer, and press the F8 key when the HP or Compaq logo appears. Select Safe Mode from the Startup Menu by using the arrow keys.

3. In Safe Mode, click Start then right-click My Computer. Select Properties from the list.

4. Click the Hardware tab then click the Device Manager button.

5. If the PC has ACPI buttons, click the plus sign next to System Devices. Remove the listings for ACPI Power Button and ACPI System Button.

6. If the PC has a listing for Advanced Power Management Support feature, you will need to remove all listings for Advanced Power Management Support.

7. When selecting and deleting an item, Windows will prompt you to restart the PC.

8. During the restart, Windows will reinstall the needed ACPI drivers. If a prompt for the Windows Operating System CD appears, select Specify Location then type C: to allow Windows to locate the necessary drivers.

NOTE: If multiple ACPI drivers were removed, it may be necessary to restart the notebook more than once to make sure the drivers are properly reinstalled.

9. After the devices are reinstalled, turn the notebook off and reinsert the battery. Test again to see if the battery charges more efficiently.

That should take care of the issue.

Thats a normal thing to happen after stand by . I had that on my old pc but my current one wakes right out. best thing you can do is either do repair and get the ip address again or get a newer wireless card. I'm using a pc card dlink dwa 645 (draft n) and it wakes right out of stand by and connects but my older card i'd have to reconnect.

hope this assits you.

Hi, the answer is quite simple. If it's a pc your using you should not use the stand by feature. Your pc should either be on or off. Set a screen saver up you want. I was advised by our computer engineer at work never to have a pc go into standby mode.

If its a laptop this is or can be a standard feature in order to save battery power. On my laptop I can go into power management and change the default settings. Will be in your programmes depending on which make you got.

Either way you will find how to change the power options in control panel under power options.
