I just took a rolaid for bad heartburn and then several people told me you are not to take them during pregnancy. I am now really scared that it will harm my baby in some way. Have mothers taken rolaids during their pregnancys and still had a healthy baby? I don't want to harm my unborn baby in any way.

i always thought the same thing, doctors say you can't take anything but tylenol and whatnot, but my aunt when she was pregnant she went to the doctor and said hey man, i have the worst heart burn of my life, what can i do. and the doctor told her she can take rolaids, so she did, she carried them in her purse and whatnot, and just so you know, my cousin is like seven this year and she's the cutest healthiest patootiest little girl i've ever met. so, i believe you should be okay, and don't stress about it, i think stress is worse for the baby than that rolaid! good luck and congrats!

I'm not sure about Rolaids but I hear Tums are okay to take (doctor recommended). I wouldn't worry about taking one Rolaid, the baby should be fine. Take care and congratulations on the new baby:-)

Actually I asked my OBGYN about that because at the time all we had was Rolaids and I was having nightly major heartburn. She said to stop using Rolaids and use Tums instead because they are easier on the stomach and have more calcium.

I don't think rolaids are that bad, but I asked my pharmacist, and she said that Tums were the safest, so that is what I use. I have been told that Rolaids are ok, but I just go with what she told me. Good luck with the heart burn its the pits and congrats on the baby.

I have a list of safe medications from my doctor...
For heartburn, reflux, upset stomach:
Tums
Maalox
Mylanta
Zantac
Pepcid
Pepto Bismal
If you took a rolaids I wouldn't sweat it...next time try to take meds from you doctor approved list.
PS. I take pepcid and tums like I'm getting paid on commision!! lol. I have the WORST reflux!

I don't know about Rolaids, but I know you can take Tums. I don't think one Rolaid will hurt your baby.

I ate Rolaids like they were candy when I was pregnant. Horrible heartburn.

yes i have and thats what my doctor gave me for heartburn don't be scared i have 4 kids and their fine i've taken rolaids just don't over do it but, it's ok to take em

it has a chemical called magnesium in it that can severly harm the baby if taken in more than little doses
take tums and tums only
i took tums like candy and my daughter is fine
but since you only did it once no harm no foul that little magnesium isnt an issue
also dont eat salt water fish as most of them have the same chemical

yes, I ate tums and rolaids like candy all the way through my pregancy and my son is fine and he is five. the doctor will tell you it is fine. they are actually full of calcium
