Do you ever donate to charity- time, money, services, that sort of thing? What's your favorite charity?

We donate used stuff to a charity based thrift store.

Other than that we like to help people first hand than go through an organization. We do things all year round for people, but the best thing we've done was get with another family or two and buy socks, gloves, hats, blankets and such. We took them to a local place that served free Thanksgiving dinners. We layed them out on tables and old sheets and once the people realized we weren't selling things they came, took and talked. The workers inside even came out to see what was going on & after the crowd was fed gave us pumpkin pie. That has got to be one of the best experiences of helping people - even if there was no free pie. (We did that for years until they moved the free food place and we had to stop.)
