Either way... whats the point of blaming each other... if there were no benefits we would still pay taxes...

I'd rather my taxes went to the benefits system. I have no problem with the benefit system itself. I have been on benefits in the past, and can certainly not guarantee that I will never be on them again. I've been paying taxes since I was 15, and feel that the benefits system should be a "mattress" that stops you hitting rock bottom, It's not there as a life-long income. Unfortunately, there are obviously those who would rather not work and claim benefits for ever, but I'm sure these losers are in the minority. I would rather my tax money went to help people who NEED assistance, instead of war or stupid sporting events. I have a feeling I'm going to be shouted down on this one though...

I prefer minimal government with minimal taxes. No social programs, no pork-barrel projects, no foreign occupations in the interests of spreading whatever.
Defend against invasion, provide law enforcement, and keep the roads in good shape. That's all a govt should be doing.

FLAT TAX! That way everybody who actually works for a living contributes the SAME percentage of their income. (but liberals would never go for it!) Additionally......NOWHERE in the US Constitution does it say it's the responsibility of the US Government to tax it's citizens in order to provide everybody with social security retirement, welfare, medicare, medicade, or universal health insurance coverage! If that's what you want and expect, then I suggest you move to Europe. As for illegal wars.....since when did enforcing UN resolutions that nobody had the balls to enforce become illegal???? (UN Resolution 1441 for example)

I don't believe in welfare, unless for the disabled. I don't believe in the dole because I believe that it has been manipulated by people that just don't want to work.

half of it to the unemployed..and half of it back to me..$6,000 a year plus they want more...? That's ridiculous..Meanwhile, everybody making minimum wage and has children gets $5,000..
