u will never be able to dunk if you are 5 10 and cant touch the rim. i was 5 8 when i first touched the rim in 9th grade. thats when i really started to work my legs and calves i am now 5 11 and can dunk reasonably hard my vert has gone up about 8 inches with 3 years of using jumpsoles almost every day. so what im saying is if you are 5 10 and cant get rim you just aren't a jumper.

I am a certified ESA certified personal trainer who played organized basketball through high school. I also happen to be 5'-10" tall.

The best advice I can give you is to balance weightlifting with jogging, jumping rope and/or on a trampoline. With the weightlifting, I recommend Leg Press (sets of 12-20 reps), Calf Raises (sets of 8-25 reps, and squats (sets of 12-20 reps). I wouldn't advise lifting any more weight with the leg press and squats than you can lift a minimum of 12 times. The reason is that heavy weight with these exercises can lead to long-term damage to the knee koint and surrounding tendons, ligaments, etc.

One thing to avoid at all cost is "Strength Shoes" or Platform Shoes. While these products can increase your vertical in the short-terrm, they can and will destroy your knees and ankles for life if you use them regularly.

At 5-10, you should be more concerned with developing your ball-handling, shooting, and defensive skills, and not spend so much time worrying about dunking or destroying your knees in order to be able to do something that your body simply isn't built to do. At your height you will never be in a real game situation where trying to dunk beats laying the ball up off the glass. Learn to shoot off the dribble, learn to pull-up. Learn to catch and shoot, break a press with your ball handling, play solid D around the perimeteer. Develop your release on your 3-ball. With the time you spend trying to be able to dunk, you could improve your game in any of these other areas that you'll actually need to be able to do in a game situation.

Even your physician cannot tell. The quality indicator, quite, is the height of your moms and dads or older siblings. Due to the truth that we do not all develop on the same cost, know-how your age or shoe dimension may not support us. The link published above can aid you get a simply proper bet, however you relatively under no circumstances be mindful of what your DNA has deliberate for you. You would not ever broaden an additional inch, however you would broaden a foot taller. I used to be as soon as five'two" as soon as I was thirteen, and that i simplest purchased to 5'4". My exceptional pal used to be five'two" while she was 13, and he or she's now five'10".

Sure, I am 5'9" and could dunk a volleyball (This was about 15 years and 40 lbs ago). It is important to overload your legs. Try ankle weights 24-7. Run with a backpack full of books. Anything to overload your thighs and calves.

If you have $60.00 to invest in dunking, buy Jumpsoles. The website is jumpusa.com.
I have these and my vertical leap became 8 inches higher when I started using them.

Lower the rim 3 inches or so. That should do the trick.

If you jump rope at least 4 time a day strech a lot and push your self to jump higher every day than yes. i think you should mark how high you can jump on a wall as if you were taking your height.
