It is from Walmart and it has a very detailed threaded pattern on the front. It says dry clean only but I heard once that if something has never been dry cleaned before that you can wash it in a regular washing machine on the gentle cycle. I'm on a budget and it needs to be washed. Only serious answers please. I need to know if this is true.

Dry cleaning is for the most part TO PREVENT SHRINKAGE.
I would put in the washer using cold water only. Hang to dry or low heat on dryer if you have the patience.
Dry cleaning dos not garauntee damage to fine detail work on articles. Use caution any time you use dry cleaners and ask them questions when you drop off.
You would be amazed some things so simple that can be ruined with dry cleaning even label says dry clean only.
I used to work for one.

I'd be concerned that there were no directions. They may not be washable. If you want to try, wash in cold and air dry. You may find they shrink so much that they won't fit the way they did.
