Information from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing the U.S. agency that is in charge of priniting all U.S. currency

On July 14, 1969, the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve System announced that currency notes in denominations of $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 would be discontinued immediately due to lack of use. Although they were issued until 1969, they were last printed in 1945.

These notes are legal tender and may be found in circulation today; however, most notes still in circulation are probably in the hands of private numismatic dealers and collectors

we press $1000 bills... there are ways to tell if it's real.. shine it under a light to see the strip on the left hand side and see if there's a watermark of the person who's represented on the bill on the right side.

OR something like that. they've changed our money so much i'm not sure what the watermarks and identifiers are now.

but our money is tagged all over to tell if it's counterfeit.

Yes, President Nixon was the one who officially phased them out of circulation because of the mafia, I believe, correct me if I am wrong.

Yes the government discontinued them I believe in the eighties because it was too easy for drug dealers to launder their money with the $1000.00 bill if you find one e-mail me and I will pay you $1100.00 for one
