I am to young to remember the big one # 1 or 2 but you are right. However the climate in today's world when you have former Allies such as Germany and France turning out to be nearly an Enemy. Then The Major Network news media all jumping on our Great President No matter if he does good or not. It seems to me its a loosing battle to wake that Giant. If we were to have a Great loss such as Part of a Big City like NYC, DC or LA but then at that time it would be the government that didn't prepare us for this kind of disaster.

Tyranny in the world was not defeated in WWII: Germany, Italy, and Japan were defeated. Tyranny still existed quite nicely, or have you not heard of Stalin?
Re: additional details: were we getting into wars because of the slaughter of Jews, we would have attacked Stalin after the fall of Germany.
And what do you mean by "if the giant awoke, the terrorists would be crushed"? This means nothing: it is a pithy observation that makes no sense and offers no practical solution, analysis, or assessment.

actually the "giant" did awake.. the giant is what took the Iraqi military out in such a short time.. but now we are left with the stinking pile of feces he left behind.. as giants are no good at dealing with the small fleas that are terrorists.
in a toe to toe match up no army can stand against the US... that's why terrorists don't go toe to toe with us.

The Giant did awaken. And we went to Afghanistan to kick some a_s_s which we did. Then some fascist in control of our government decided to focus the giant's attention on something that had nothing to do with terrorism so we attacked another country thereby forgetting what we were doing in the real war on terror.
So now we are losing the war on terror in Afghanistan and have lost (or never had) control of Iraq.
