Well if her mother died, there is no real way to comfort her.
The way she takes in what you do or say to her will help her attitude about the situation. But a death like that cannot be cured in the mind of someone that care about them dearly.

Speak with your presence, just let her know that you are there, just in case she may need to talk, or just get out of the house and go for a walk or something. Not a lot of words, just a shoulder to lean on. That will mean the world, to her.

"I'm sorry for your lost, but life will go on. It's alright to cry at times, it's only human nature to mourn, but don't let it affect your life for the worst. Your mother would have wanted to see you succeed. If it means anything, I'm here for you when you need a shoulder to cry on. Now come on, let's go shopping, and after-wards, we can get ice cream. I'll pay."

A squeeze of the hand, and a "I'm sorry." Don't ever say, ""I know how you feel," since you cannot know the depth of the relationship he and his mother had, and especially if your mother is still alive.

uh. . .say what u feel.i think u should support her and b there for her all the way. alot of us dont feel the pain they feel b/ its not our family member/friend , or just some one u loved, that died. they need some one to lean on, talk to , feel comfortable around. tell them that you'll be there for them, that if they need any one to talk to you'll be there. but they shouldnt slow down life just because of what happend, they should move on. but really, if u were his or her true friends you would kno what to say.
