I was the same way. I don't know where to even begin to start. What you're talking about sounds like dependence, addiction to a drug. The curse of it isn't getting drunk, you just get drunk. The curse is when you get sober... it's just unrelenting gray reality, and it gets worse as you go along. Any kind of problem with drinking tends to get worse and not better. I had to lose a lot and wind up in rehab, which was not where I wanted to be. I had to face the fact that I had a problem and do things about it. I'd look at some professional help or A.A. Maybe once you take a step or two towards getting help you'll finally get some relief.

Your old nature is craving it's lifesource. You can quit the drinking but the self that grew out of it is still there. It's the price you're paying for the bottle. You have to go through hell a bit on the way up now if you really want to overcome. That's the ugly part of addiction: fun on the way down, but the opposite on the way up.

If the feelings are overwhelming, a dr can help prescribe something to take the edge off. In time you will have to wean yourself away from it all and become a new person. Tough lesson to learn, but don't reach for a replacement. It will be another addiction.

That's easy!! Have more sex.

Sexual stimulation causes dopamine to be released into the brain by neurotransmitters. Dopamine is "feel-good" stuff. This release of Dopamine is why Crystal Meth is such a popular drug. It causes the release of 30X the dopamine in 1 ejaculation. So my solution is have lots of sex. 30 ejaculations a month should be a good start.
