I applied for a job in a software company in Boston. Their recruiter calls me and then schedules me for a phone interview with one of the VPs of the company. I felt weird since you usually go up the chain little by little (1st interview with the recruiter, 2nd with someone higher and keep moving up the chain). Anyways, after spending 20 min over the phone with the VP, i was asked to come for a face to face interview with the manager (who I'll be reporting to) and 2 other people who works for the VP. What are my chances of getting the job? I am confused.
Thank you

Sounds like you have an excellent chance. Of course, don't count your chickens yet. Interviewing with a VP isn't such an ominous thing. One must consider the size of the company, the general role that VP plays in the company, and that sort of thing. The company may be organized more horizontally and this particular VP is just a title they gave because he was so nice and showed up for work every day. The fact they want a face-to-face is the important thing. Get your game on and don't let ANYONE intimidate you. You have the upper hand, they just have to play their cards right to get you.

You went through a screening interview. Companies use this tactic as a way to weed out candidates so they don't have to waste their time on face-to-face interviews with people who don't fit the criteria of the position. It's a good sign that you were invited in for face to face, but you will have a bigger hurdle to clear with those the next round of interviews. Best of luck!

Look at it this way....you've been invited for supper but not to live there yet! LOL You did good on the phone interview but they want to know more about you before they hire you. Just be consistent and confident and you'll do fine.

It's way too soon to tell. It's like answering a personals ad. You made it through the phone call and next you have the cough date and work your way along to . . . you know . . . :-)

Keep selling!
