Can anyone tell me rights that straight people have that gay people do not? I am looking for anything; even the smallest things will help. Everywhere I look on the Internet it either says the stupidest hateful garbage or talks about marriage and the military.

GLBT persons do not have the same rights as straight people in many ways...
first of all GLBT's{GAYS,LESBIANS,BISEXUALS,TRANSGENDERED} who do not wish to live an out life style must fear for their JOB safety, AS do pGLBT's who do live an out life many times when people are outed or come out they fear for their job safety as well as personal safety due to HATE CRIMES.
it is difficult to secure/optain and apartment often because of predujices...
there are 1000's of benifits that straights have when they marry so you have seen those answers on line because it is actually life threatening to those who are gay or have gay family memebers...example
how would you feel if your spouse of 12 years was perparing for surgury, and you were not allowed to see them ? becasue their father of mother sister or brother had you barred from seeing your spose just cause they could say you're not a blood/legal spouse?
what would you do if your spouse had been in an accident and you arrived at the hospital just to be told that you were not able to get any information about your spouse becasue YOU WERE NOT A RELATIVE....{BECASUE YOU CAN'T GET MARRIED} now what would you do or how would you feel if your spouse died {and you had children together} and because you can't be counted as a legal spouse you lose your children???
this can and DOES HAPPEN EVERYDAY ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES...
as far as the military examples HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU SERVED YOUR COUNTRY LOYALLY AND BRAVELY
only to be threatened with death, rape, extorsion and the like all because you HAVE THE ABLITY TO TRUELY LOVE WHO YOU WERE INTENDED TO LOVE..!
OR IF YOU WERE RAPED BY A FELLOW SERVICE PERSON BECASUE YOU BELIEVED IN MONOGAMY WITH YOU LESBIAN/GAY LOVER...ONLY TO BE FORCED TO HAVE SEX WITH A STRAIGHT SERVICE PERSON...BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT YOU WOULD NEVER TELL BECAUSE THEY WOULD "OUT" YOU...AND THEN YOU WOULD BE DISHONORABLY DISCHARED...

Coragryph mentioned
"Gay marriage isn't about sexual orientation, since the laws are written based purely on gender-based discrimination. But the intended side-effect of the gender-based discrimination is to deny homosexual monogamous couples the hundreds of specific legal benefits that monogamous heterosexual couples can obtain."

He is, of course, exactly right. Here are some of those "specific legal benefits" that are denied to married couples:

Partner's health benefits (i.e. getting "family medical coverage" from an employer)

Favorable tax treatment (Filing jointly may be a penalty some times, but to be married and filing jointly is often a more favorable tax treatment)

Inheritance / Death -- Favorable estate planning preferences like Joint Tenancies and a "spouse's share" of an estate are reserved for married couples. In addition, many states do not recognize a partner's right to make a decision as to whether a loved one should be taken off life support or how remains are treated (family and spouses can have a say, but if you're not a spouse, many people will not listen)

Just three more for your list.

There is no such thing as the "right" to serve in the military.

There is no such thing as the "right" to be married.

There is no "right" to adopt a child.

Gay lobbyists like the ACLU claim that gays are denied these rights, but are disengenuous because they are not rights at all. They are further dishonest, because they do not even acknowledge that there might be a rational basis for the disparate treatment. Most of all, they are outright fraudulent in claiming that they are fighting for "equality", when all they want is to get the benefit of the disparate treatment, not end the preference.

Quite a few, depending on the jurisdiction.

Straight people have the right to serve in the US military, and to be honest about their sexual orientation. Gay people do not.

Gay people are prohibited in many states from adopting children, based solely on their sexual orientation, even if they are not in a gay relationship.

Gay marriage isn't about sexual orientation, since the laws are written based purely on gender-based discrimination. But the intended side-effect of the gender-based discrimination is to deny homosexual monogamous couples the hundreds of specific legal benefits that monogamous heterosexual couples can obtain.

Gay people can be denied legal and work benefits in many states, since many states do not prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation.

The list goes on. Most states do not prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, so gays can be targetted for private and government action, where targetting a particular racial or religious group would be completely illegal.

Homosexuals cannot serve in the armed forces and be open about their sexuality. Heterosexuals can.
Homosexuals cannot get married in ANY state. Homosexuals are entitled only to "civil unions" which do not convey the same rights, in 3 states. Heterosexuals can marry in any state.
Homosexuals cannot adopt or have foster children in the vast majority of states. Heterosexuals can.
Homosexuals can be legally fired from their job in EVERY state just for being homosexual. Heterosexuals can't be fired for their sexual preference.
Homosexuals can be openly discriminated against by employers (turned down for positions/promotions) legally, because of their preferences. Heterosexuals cannot.

Those are just a few.

The gay and lesbian community do not have the ability to get married in all 50 states. and in the states that do allow it, it is really hard for a gay man to take on his partner's last name. Major legal issues there. you should check out the GLBT website www.glbt.com

Really marriage and the military are the only places. You could argue that open gays are discriminated against when it comes to jobs and things like that. But over all they have the same rights as everyone else.

Marriage is a privilege granted by society NOT a right.

Military has 'don't ask don't tell' policy....polygamist and any other abnormal sexually attracted person cannot serve openly either. It is not a right to serve openly.

Someone could say "marrying who you love," but polygamists don't have that one either.

VERY few states have nondiscrimination laws in housing or employment that apply to gays. Mine does.
