What are the war powers of the President according to the Constitution? Please provide the section and article where this information is

The President has no war powers under the Constitution.

Article I Section 8 authorizes Congress to declare war, and to make rules regarding the armed forces. In fact, it grants sole authority to Congress in the area of declaring war.

The President only has the powers of Commander in Chief to issue military orders within those rules and regulations set forth by Congress. See Article II. He cannot declare war.

As for other "war powers", there are dozens of specific federal statutes (laws passed by Congress) that grant the President specific powers during a declared war. But they only apply during a declared war, and only Congress can declare war. Again, see Article I Section 8.

During a time of war the president becomes commander-in-chief. He makes all the rulescongress can do things like chose not to fund a war etc. but the ultimate decision as to whether we start or stop a war, and how it is executed is up tot eh president.

you find out at election time, when he declares marshall law and elects himself president till the war in Iraq is over.

he can send the marines without athority of congress. anything elese congress needs to ok unless he has changed this too. god help us
