Wait and see what they say after the colposcopy. Write down all your concerns so you can ask them everything you want to know. You possibly might want to call the Dr.'s Office and give them a heads up that you will be needing extra time so they will be able to have the time to answer all your questions. Just be glad that they are looking out for you.

Sweetie, it's no big deal. During a colposcopy, the doctor inserts a scope into your cervix to check for abnormal-looking cells. If he sees anything abnormal, he will then do a biopsy of the tissue, which will be sent to the lab. You may have some cramping or spotting after the procedure, but this is normal. This procedure is very common and should not endanger you or the baby in any way.

Maybe the pap smear is just abnormal because you are pregnant. Just go in and get it done. They sometimes like to be over cautious and scare you and they don't mean to. They did that to me on a breast exam. I was scared. Having my future flash before me. Then all was ok and I almost broke down from the relief. It is so early in the pregnancy that I wouldn't worry about the baby. Call them up and say you need to speak to the Dr. because you are so upset you need them to reassure that this is just routine. Make him tell you exactly what they are thinking. Knowledge is alot more self assuring than the unknown.

It is safe to have a Pap smear during pregnancy. If your Pap smear results are abnormal, a colposcopy could be performed during your pregnancy. However, further treatment will probably be delayed until after your baby is born. Frequently, the birth of your baby will wash away any abnormal cervical cells. There is no risk to your baby in having an abnormal Pap smear.

I had the same thing done about 11 years ago. I had an abnormal pap. They did the colposcopy and they found precancerous cells ( cervical dysplasia). Its nothing to be scared about. Its a little uncomfortable but there is no pain. And as far as you being pregnant, your baby is safe or else they wouldnt do it. Just thank your lucky stars that they caught it now. You will be just fine and good luck hun!!!! And congrats on the baby. :)

You probably have some abnormal cells on your cervix due to HPV. I would get the test done ASAP so if it is HPV you can get treated and be sure it isnt one of thetrains that causes cervical cancer. Ask your Dr about the risk of miscarriage etc for these tests and if they need done now or if they can wait til after the baby is born. Also if you dont trust your Dr's. answers feel free to get a second opinion.

Any normal woman is going to worry about her pregnancy/baby. Most pregnancies aren't 100% normal, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be a little worried. I know that you already know this, but you're just going to have to wait until you can meet with the doctor and figure out exactly what's going on. There's no way we can tell you on here what's going on. Abnormal could mean anything from something so tiny that it won't matter, to something seriuosly huge. Just wait it out hun, and you'll be in my thoughts.

Let me put your mind at ease. Relax. Thousands of women are recalled after smears for many reasons. One common reason is that the sample they collected wasn't adequate so it needs to be repeated, you may have a small polyp which can be removed easily.

Look at it this way, whatever the problem is, they have found it early....90% it will be nothing at all, and if it is more likely to be something minor. Your baby will be fine.

Best wishes.

All i know is that my sister in law had this exact problem and her dr waited until she had the baby to do these things. Make sure it is okay to mess around with your cervix when you are pregnant. It is probably nothing to worry about, after hse had the baby they lasered her cervix and she is fine. It was the beginning cells of cancer on there but it is pretty common. You will be okay. It could be anything, not necessarily cancer.
