not likely.

ask the person to paypal it to you if you also have a bank account.

or send a money order.

plus it's never safe to trust a personal cheque.

The last time I sold an item to someone in US, it turned out to be a Nigerian who'd hacked into a US ebay account.
He then sent me an email asking me to send the item 'to my wonderous uncle in Nigeria, who will pay you for item after receiving of item please'
Then a fake PayPal email saying 'Please to shipping item to our client in Nigeria, then we will give money to you'.
Masterful.

You can, but it may cost you more to bank.
I wanted to sell something for $5.00 once, but when I asked my bank, they said it would cost about £4.00 or something ridiculous to cash.

Use paypal, I have used it for years - quick, safe, and costs about 4% in comission.
