Which direction should ceiling fans go, clockwise or counterclockwise?

In winter, the fan should blow down, forcing the warm air down and this will even out the air temp in the room.

In summer, you want the fan to blow upward, this will pull the cooler air near the floor up to mix with the warmer higher air, again balancing out the temp in the room.

Good luck

look at the bend in the blades - soem are counter some are clock- but the bend will tell you what u need. The low part bend down the farthest will cut the air and bring it up to the ceiling- thus it will when turning using that edge bring air up and push air off the ceiling down- this is done to circulate air to help the heating need- helps keep room warmer--- the blade when used to keep the room cool will need the cutting edge - higher part of the blade to cut the air first to keep the room cooler and not allow air above to heat too much - you will feel the breeze hit you from below the fan - as it keeps circulating the air before it gets too hot downward faster. So look at the blades- whatever direction you need see the turn and if the blade edge is forward and down as it turns you will heat- and upper forward cuts the air to cool. Yadda yadda after that

You want the fan to move clockwise (so you feel air when standing under it) to cool the room and counterclockwise to warm the room.

The only way I remember is: up for the summer, down with winter! The button that converts it that is!
