If you mean the engine doesn't turn over, but the lights don't dim, try messing with the shifter. It has a switch to keep you from starting the engine if you're not in park or neutral. If that's not it, somebody poking around with a voltmeter while you're turning the key can tell you what's wrong in two minutes.

Try a jump start- sometimes the battery is alive enough to run the radio and the lights, but not enough to make the starter turn over. If the starter isn't cranking, you've got problems (either with the battery or the starter or solenoid) that have nothing to do with fuel supply.

I had this problem with my old car. It was the celanoid on the starter. Try tapping the celanoid with a wood block a few times and see if it turns over at all. If it does, then you should probably replace the starter. Even if the gas was cutoff, it would still turn, so try what i said here.

Does not "crank up"? Sounds more like the starter isn't working than a gas problem.
