I recently (last saturday) fell skateboarding and practically dove into the cement. I landed directly on my forearm (close to my elbow) and it hurt alot. I have fractured bones before and this seemed close to it. the area of my forearm right below my elbow started sweilling up and turned red and it hurt to touch, even in the lightest way such as resting it on a arm of a chair. over the past couple days the swelling has stopped but it still seems a little bigger then average and the pain has decreased but my arm is still as fragile as it was right after i landed on it and also now i have a dark blue bruise covering a large area of my lower arm. Also if it is important, some areas of where i hurt it went numb and is still slightly numb like theres something wrong with the nerves or something. I was wondering just what i have doen to my arm if there are any doctors on here i would appreciate the info they can give me

most of the answers thus far are appropriate in that you need to have your arm/elbow xrayed. your description certainly does indicate a fracture. you didn't really describe your motion about the elbow and forearm; so as far as i can tell, you may even have a dislocation which would really be problematic if not treated soon.
the numbness can be from a dislocation or even a displaced fracture fragment that is pinching on your nerve (posterior interossous nerve if the numbness in on the dorsum/top of your forearm), or worse case scenario (not likely, just to scare you), you have/had compartment syndrome from all the swelling.
bottom line...go get an xray
good luck man

I would suggest a little visit to the ER. The numbness could be a result of a fractured Scaphoid, which is a small bone at the base of the thumb which if not treated could be very serious. I broke my elbow a few weeks ago and chose not to go to the doctor, i thought it was getting better, but it turned out that i made it a lot worse and caused a lot more problems.

You need to see a doctor! If it still hurts and is swollen it may be infected as well which is extremely dangerous. If in fact you have a fracture or even a break in the bone, if left untreated you may loose some of the mobility of your arm. You really need to have an x-ray and let a doctor diagnose you, then treat you.

Your arm could very well be broken...even though the swelling has decreased that does not effect the break...you still have tenderness and that is an indicator of a fracture....Your arm needs to be x-rayed as soon as possible...delaying this may hinder the fracture and the setting of it....You would not want a fracture to heal without being set....

from what you have said I think your best and safest option would be to visit casualty a doctor can then examine your arm and make a better diagnosis. Good Luck.
