In the wild, boxies eat bugs. Insects, worms, snails, arthropods, crustaceans, etc.
They supplement this in the wild with about 25% a wide variety of vegetation- fallen fruits, mushrooms, berries, grass, leaves, flowers, veggies, etc.
In captivity, I usually do a 3 part diet.
Part 1 is bugs, mostly worms and crickets. 'Can o' Worms' products are handy for days when you cannot score live food. These are 'gut loaded' or dusted with vitamins when possible.
Part 2 is other meat. Soaked weight-control cat food, cooked chicken, beef heart, etc.- but mostly the soaked cat food. Good prepared box turtle food would be OK here as well. This is usually served with a dash of calcium carbonate powder (ReptiCal). I don't change this part too much.
Part 3 is a salad of an always-changing mixture of whatever I have around that is good for them, but never Iceberg lettuce, cabbage, spinach, tropical fruits, citrus, corn, grains, etc.

I have a very picky Box Turtle and she really loves Strawberries, Blackberries and meal worms, chicken and hard boiled eggs. I have tried to introduce different greens to her, but she turns her nose up to most of these. I supplement her diet with liquid vitamins and calcium and she got an A+ at her last vet visit.
Along with a good diet It is very important to ensure that the turtle's habitat is properly heated and gives the turtle a place to retreat. I have a log in her tank that she can hide in and at the other end I have a shallow saucer that she can soak in or drink from. She has a UV light on a timer that goes out at night and a nocturnal infra red heat lamp that is on 24/7 along with a heating pad that sticks to the outside bottom of her tank to aid with proper digestion. You an get all of these things at Petco, Pet Club or Pet Smart.

They should be feed:
Slugs, worms, crickets, leafy greens such as escarole, dandelions, endive, mustard, and collards, NO lettuces or spinach! They aren't good for him. Hard mixed veggies such as an orange flesh squash the harder the better(acorn, pumpkin, butternut), fresh green beans, fresh peas, parsnip, and green bell peppers, NO broccoli or cauliflower, or avocado! Fruit such as figs, papaya, mango, pear, and berries. NO bananas, only very rarely as a treat.
