I use to work in daycare about three years ago, and I would be happy to share what I know. Pay depends on the center you're working at, and experience. When I started out I was only making $6.00/hr and based on performance I got a fifty cent raise and promotion after the first year making $6.50/hr. But now that I have a lot of experience I could make anywhere from $7-maybe $9/hr. But if you are looking for a lucrative career daycare isn't it, you work it because you love the kids. The center I worked at had two different centers one was for newborns-five year olds, the second center was for school age kids. I worked at the first center and each room had a different price at that time the infant room was $150/week, toddler room was $140/wk, threes were $ 130/wk, and the pre-k room was $120/wk. I'm sure the prices have changed or gone up but that was the prices and pay when I was working there, hope it gives you an idea for our project. Good Luck.

A worker's salary depends on their experience and education. A person with a BA in Early Childhood Ed. will make at least $12/hr. here in NJ where someone with no education and little experience will only make $7. It depends on the center of course. Those that are corporate sponsored tend to pay more overall. Tuition depends on the age of the child largely. For an infant you can pay up to $1200 a month here in NJ. Usually it is around $800 a month for a toddler and gets cheaper the older the child gets.

In my town the average wage is probably like 6$ an hr. It takes no training and they don't do background checks. They wanted to charge me like 15$ a day and I had to pay wether she was there or not for Mon- Fri. Weekends they were closed. Well needless to say I don't use a day care center, private care was the same cost and there open whenever I need them. I also know the person who is careing for my daughter. May I suggest calling around to local day care centeres because this is OK and in TX things were way different.

You should call around to the local centers and ask them. The amount the workers make and the charges per child at the center will be different depending on where you are located. Just let them know you are doing a class project and they should be able to give you all the details

I was a lead teacher for 2 yr olds in topeka kansas. i made 6.50/hour in 1999 so i quit. that is not enough. it depends on what age group (diapers or no? feeding themselves?), what size of city, what kind of center. Is a a national chain or a privately owned? keep in mind how much the center charges the parents for each kid in your room. my room parents got charged 160/wk per child and i only saw 6.50 an hour. mainly the reason why i quit. if it's a nice national chained center and you are the main teacher in a room i would say 7.50. if it's privately owned it will be differnent. if you are not the main teacher it will be around $1 less. Good luck!

I made $9.00/hour, and had a BA, and also worked as a teacher before I went there. Not enough, if you ask me!
