We are not allowed to trade to bring anything in from Cuba. It is part of the Kennedy-Kruschev agreements from 1962. Kennedy had to promise not to invade Cuba because of the missles, so instead he placed an embargo on them.
You should have got up with me about 6 mo ago. I just came back from Iraq and I smuggled in an entire box of Cuban cigars.

because the embargo / economic sanctions are still in effect from the 1960s when Fidel Castro - the Communist Dictator came to power. They will probably remain illegal until Castro dies ( which will be any year now ) then there will be a regime change and a non communist government - then the cigars will be legal and there will be normal diplomatic and trade relations between the us and cuba

The USA has a trade embargo against Cuba. Cuban cigars may not be imported. Neither can Cuban toilet seats or Cuban billiard balls.

All Cuban made products are illegal because of the embargo. It was placed on Cuba whenCastro took over and they became communists and siezed all of the private property in Cuba in 1959.

because the Americans have a trade embargo with Cuba and have done for years. No-one has any real idea why except that apparently they don't like communism for some reason - it's ludicrous. They can't even go there on holiday, which is great cos it means there's more room for us Brits on the lovely Cuban beaches!

Because the United states does not want to deal with Cuba since the Fedel Castro incident where Cuba was pinting weapons towards the U.S. and Kennedy got involved.

I think it has to do with the trade embargo we put on Cuba. Cuban goods can't legally be sold in the US.

Because everything from Cuba is illegal in the US due to a trade embargo imposed by the US. The embargo is due to Cuba being communist.
