Is there are significant difference between the two. I'm buying a computer and I'm stumped between the two. The way my computer is configured, AMD is about 100 dollars cheaper than with the Intel chip. I'm looking to save money. Which would you choose. Why?

I have the Core 2 Duo and its a lot better than the AMD which is on another computer. It litterally just out performs it and goes above and beyond it how much it can handle. Intel all the way!

Well for proformace the Intel's core 2 due is the better one however the use of more then one core really depends one what u wont to be doing.. there are not a lot of programs out there that take full advantage of multicores. so if u like to encode a DVD and surf the web all then maybe either will be good for u.. AMD is a bit better in multimedia area, however according to "PC World" bench mark tests the Intel latest chip is better...
www.pcworld.com this is the best source for u. and they will have article for u to compare raw speeds or just simply what u will be mostly doing and u budget

Their is a huge difference between the two, and in fact they aren't comparable due to differing architecture. I've always preferred Intel because I find generally it outperforms AMD and has fewer hardware conflicts.
