In the case of chickenpox (Varicella zoster), I'd say DON'T vaccinate. Why? Because it is so easy for them to get inoculated "naturally" by getting a case of it from a friend at the daycare center. If they contract chickenpox when young, it is a bit discomforting, but it isn't anything dangerous at all. There is evidence that shows immunity later in life to varicella due to this type of exposure is much more reliable and less likey to cause autoimmune problems than to get the vaccine.
In general, I support vaccination to prevent disease, but in this case, I'd say it is better to just allow nature to run it's course via the busy daycare center.

Chickenpox is rarely lethal. In fact, I have never heard of a single child's death due to it. It is a rough experience but it will not kill them. I am not in favor of vaccinating diseases unless they have a lethal factor to them. To many children these days are shielded from diseases. The immune system needs to work every now and then before it really gets strong. I would not subject a kid to chickenpox deliberately, however, I would not want a vaccination unless I saw a reason why chickenpox could be lethal or have some long term damaging effects.

Yes; vaccinate. Historically, most children got chickenpox, and usually it is not a serious matter. But sometimes it is, and it can be particularly so in adults.

better let all ur kids have vaccination.as a biotechnologist i would suggest u 2 vaccinate ur kids b'coz first itself if u take vaccination -
-after taking vaccination also if a child is infected with chicken pox, then the body immune system will have ready made antibodies to fight with the disease.
-it will comfort u
-i suggest u to have a clear & detailed discussion on this topic with ur family doctor, before taking any step.

I think it is a great idea. My children are all too old for it and have had them already, but I would have done it, it were available. When you have the chicken pox it leaves a dormant strand in your system and can reappear later on in life. It is called shingles. I have had them too and they really hurt.

i dont know . i had chicken pox twice as a kid even though the doctors say you only get it once. it left some pretty nasty scars too. i have given my kids the vacination, because i would prefer to have them as healthy as they can be.
