The three most common types of radiators are
1) alluminum with plastic top tanks and bottom tanks
2) alluminum with plastic side tanks
3) all copper (rarely used on newer vehicles)

side tanks are used when vehicles have an automatic transmission as they include the cooler for the automatic transmission fluid.

most aluminum radiators with plastic tanks are not repairable. copper radiators are.

Tube and fin design, crossflow or downflow. Made from aluminum, and plastic. Older radiators were made from brass.
