im looking for a tattoo school near the san antonio area. can anybody help me with some info.

A tattoo school? Generally if you want to become a tattoo artist, you have to apprentice at a tattoo parlor. This means you work as a receptionist (the person who handles scheduling appointments and greeting customers) for a few weeks or months, then you begin to train under the watch of a tattoo artist. The artist will explain how the tattooing process works, what problems to look for that will show a customer will not have appropriate skin for a tattoo, and what aftercare is needed. After you have been an apprentice for a given period of time (generally six months), you will be deemed worthy of the title of tattoo artist.
I know there are some actual "schools" for tattooing, but the apprenticeship is the most common (and inexpensive, considering you get paid to learn instead of paying to learn) means of doing so.

Near would mean close by. Santa Cruz is an hour away and the freeway to the coast is packed with cars. If you can leave very very early in the a.m. or a few days earlier you might have a quiet and romantic road trip. Otherwise it can be very stressful driving and waiting in lines of cars wanting to do the same thing. This goes for any destination along the coast on a holiday or weekend with good weather. This is the reality version, especially for visitors. The other comments are forgetting the negatives about looking for what you want.

emily is right. as far parlors in san antonio, there's plenty. absolute, dandyland, adrenaline, inkzibit (although i think they changed their name). platinum has a good reputation too.
