I've been hearing and getting many reports that Putz's elbow is actually NOT ok,and the M's are keeping it quiet as they search for a backup possibly Benitez from The Giants.I already have Fuentes and Chad Cordero for closers so I decided to dump Putz for a much needed 5 tool outfielder with huge upside(in my opinion) prior to Putz's value dropping if and when it is determined his injury is not so minor.I play in a 5x5 12 team roto league.

Go with Alex Rios. He's a sleeper pick that (if healthy) can be a great addition or trade bait.

Putz is a decent closer but how many wins will Seattle have? No saves without the wins.

Yep, the time is now for this trade-you have 2 decent closers (esp if Boston trades for Cordero as rumored). If Putz is hurt you won't get anything for him when the news breaks and Rios is, as you said, a potential 5 cat stud. Do it now and scan the waiver wire for guys getting save opportunities-pick up Putz's replacement (probably Reitsma barring a trade) to really screw the other guy...
I'd make this trade even if you already have 3 good OF

Absolutely, you should pull to acquire Rios. Rios is poised to have a breakout season after starting last season on a tear before his major injury. There is no reason why he cannot do the same this year.

Closers are easy to come by in fantasy leagues - there will always be one to pick up off the waiver wires, such as Taylor Tankersley, Salomon Torres, Dustin Hermanson, etc. Regardless of whether these players falter in their closing roles this season, there will always be someone there to replace him. It's never worth drafting high for a closer unless his name is Rivera, Nathan, Hoffman, or F.Rodriguez.

You would be stupid not to do it.

Rios is bound to have an incredible year. He is a very talented player in a very good offense. He is going to put some good numbers if he is healthy all year too.

Last years #'s:
.302 BA, 17 HR, 82 RBI, 15 SB...in only 128 games.

stretch that over 160 games and you've got a 20/20 player who will drive in 100.

There are very few players you can say that about...it may be limited to just him and Soriano.

Yes, I would say this is a good trade. Many people may say its crazy but, at this point in time you don't know what will happen to him. It's better to get rid of an injury risk then to keep him and his injury reduce his value. Although I think you could have gotten a better OF.

Yes, experts will tell you over and over again "Don't overpay for saves!" There are always 3 or 4 guys midseason who lose their closing jobs anyway, so you might as well wait to pick up their backups.

Rios is bound for a pretty good year. This is the time anyway to get him and see if he is for real. I say good trade.

A few reports I've seen have said that Alex Rios is a huge sleeper. Take him while you can. Experts are saying that he should have a great year.

I would do it. Saves are very easy to find if you look based on the fact closers always get hurt.
