in the song 'the wind cries mary', there is a a few lines;

'and will the wind ever remember,
the names it has blown in the past,
and with its crush, its old age, and its wisdom,
it wispers, no this will be the last'.

any ideas what it means?

AFTER ALL JACKS ARE IN THEIR BOXES
AND THE CLOWNS HAVE ALL GONE TO BED
YOU CAN HEAR HAPPINESS STAGGERING ON DOWN THE STREET
FOOTPRINTS DRESSED IN RED

AND THE WIND WHISPERS MARY

A BROOM IS DREARILY SWEEPING
UP THE BROKEN PIECES OF YESTERDAY'S LIFE
SOMEWHERE A QUEEN IS WEEPING
SOMEWHERE A KING HAS NO WIFE

AND THE WIND CRIES MARY

THE TRAFIC LIGHTS THEY TURN A BLUE TOMORROW
AND SHINE THER EMPTINESS DOWN ON MY BED
THE TINY ISLAND SAGS DOWNSTREAM
CAUSE THE LIFE THAT LIVED IS DEAD
AND THE WIND SCREAMS MARY

WILL THE WIND EVER REMEMBER
THE NAMES IT HAS BLOWN IN THE PAST
AND WITH ITS CRUTCH ITS OLD AGE AND ITS WISDOM
IT WHISPERS NO ,"THIS WILL BE THE LAST"

AND THE WIND CRIES MARY

Jini was feeling down and was wondering if he'd ever see his girlfriend again. Jimi wrote this in 1967 for Are You Experienced?, inspired by his girlfriend at the time named Kathy Mary Etchingham. He'd gotten into an argument with her about her cooking. She got very angry and started throwing pots and pans and finally stormed out to stay at a friend's home for a day or so. When she came back, Jimi had written "The Wind Cries Mary" for her. LOL! So this great song is about a pan-throwing argument.

I am a total Jimi Hendrix fan. I have all four albums and all the other unauthorized cd's that came out. The song's about his drug use and an old girlfriend that he was in the middle of a break up with, and family & friends that had come and went (died).

I think he's alluding to the fact that no matter how important you think you are in this life, there's been a million people just like you that have lived and died before you.

who knows, he did take alot of LSD you know
