is it just me, or does it seem like every fan no matter what team they route for likes brenden shanahan? i know a bunch of people who think he should be the rangers captain instead of jagr.
i'm a devils fan so naturally i hate the rangers, but i love shanny

Shanny is a class act who loves the game and plays it hard every night. Anyone who loves hockey loves Shanny.

As a guy who is barely a fan of the Detroit Red Wings, was never a fan of the Hartford Whalers nor the St. Louis Blues, and absolutely despises the New Jersey Devils and the New York Rangers, I love Brendan Shanahan. This guy is one of the best goal scorers of our time, especially after his 40 goal performance last year, having taken one year off with the lockout. The guy is a 600 goal scorer in the league, has 3 Stanley Cups, an Olympic Gold Medal, a Canada Cup, and was part of the infamous Piestany punch-up at the World Juniors between Canada and Russia in 1987, with the Canadians ahead in the game at the time! He has played in over 1,400 games, has over 1,200 points, and also has over 2,400 penalty minutes. Shanahan is a guy who would excite the fans every night with a goal, an assist, and a fight, what's called a "Gordie Howe hat trick." Brendan Shanahan definitely deserved to have been a part of Canada's Olympic team last year, and it is a big wonder why he was not selected. Oh well. He is definitely one of the best players of this generation. Get well soon Shanny, and we'll see you out on the ice!

Shanahan is the man. Not only is he talented,but he is a good clean player who upholds the integrity of the nhl. He is a great leader and stands up for his team and will do whatever it takes to win. He is great in the locker room and fans everywhere love him. I am a rangers fan and he is one of my fav players, i have a shanahan jersey. I think Shanahan is definitey captain worthy,but the timing is wrong. Jagr was just given the captain title when shanny came to ny, it wouldn't seem right to give it to him just as he gets here.

Im a Devils Fan too and i love Shanny hes a good hockey player he can score, pass ,be a leader, mostly everything Shanny can do. Most people say he should be captain because they are canadians... like myself. Shanny is a without a doubt one of the best.

Shanny was great for the Devils. His departure helped bring in Scott Stevens which was even greater. And above all he plays the game they way it deserves to be played. Shanahan's good for the game and I believe all fans appreciate his play.

I love Brendan Shanahan. and i absolutely hate the rangers. and i think that jagr should go to hell and shanny should be the captain. shanny is just a great guy and a great hockey player. so naturally everyone loves him

As a Stars fan I am an avid Red Wings hater, lol. However, Shanahan is a guy who you can never really bring yourself to hate. He's a hardworking, classy, blue collar kind of player who has proven himself to valuable no matter what his age.
Now that he plays for the Rangers, it's easy to admit I think he's a great player. :D

Brendan Shanahan is a special guy, and impossible to hate. Your impression is very accurate. He's just one of those rare people.
JJ is the rightful Captain, although the "C" seems to weigh him down this year.

Shanny stole his wife back when they both played for St. Louis.

jagr should definatly be looking over his shoulder. i think shanahan displays way more leadership than jagr. Jagr just is a little bit more skilled
