Millie,
The linkage from the wiper motor to the blades may have come apart. Typically there is a plastic ball and socket joint that connect the two pieces. Cost to repair something like that could be as little as $50 if nothing is broken and several hundred dollars if the linkage was damaged.
Good luck
Mike

Start by checking the fuse. Unlike Pedro who paid for nuts being tightened yours sounds more serious. Is there any movement of the wipers at any speed when you turn them on? Well I think you may of fried the wiper transmission or motor. This is about 200. bucks to have it fixed. If that is what it is. I used to sell Isuzu's and Subaru's and the Subaru wipers motors are indestructible and are about 250 bucks to replace.

You probably stripped the wiper transmission out or the posts where the wipers sit on. the best bet it take this car to a competent mechanic to properly diagnose the problem. If you know someone that's able to fix this, you can probably find the parts in a junkyard far cheaper than at the Izuzu dealership. Try www.car-part.com.

thank you for the documents approximately RainX. I have been given my autos' oil substitute some month in the past. They verify for each little thing, at the same time with windsheild wipers. My automobile is a 2009,and that i'd desire to envision the wipers greater many times because of the fact the warmth of the summer season down the place I stay , makes the wiper blades wreck swifter.

yes , for sure, the windshield wiper motor assembly also has a transmission, that transmission is defective, and most dealerships will take you for a ride, don t be fouled, it s just a cam gear problem, compression pressed polypropylene gear that gave under torque and now that it doesn t work they can charge you anything, remember , these gears are produced at 23 cents in Korea, and importation industries are taking the rest of the profit in their pocket, don t worry, it s normal, that's what make the system function, but your wiper system is only part of what makes the world go round, and guess you have to pay.

Well if your hearing them run that means that your motors arent broken and they are working so your gears are probably stripped...when u started the window wipers when the snow was on top of the car and herd grinding that means your gears that move the wipers are stripped.

hi, check the mechanical connections from the motor to the blades. if all connections are ok , run motor and watch the mechanical connections move, if they are not moving , replace the motor assembly. the motor will cost around a hundred new. a used one from a wrecking yard is about half the price of the new one. good luck

You might have broken a linking arm, but it is surprising that they couldn't handle four inches of snow as most cars can handle that much at least once.
Garage time if you don't have the skills to remove the rest of what is needed to inspect and fix whatever part has broken.
