Discuss how other cultures traded with Africa prior to Europeans: India, China and Arabs traded with Sub-saharan Africa from the middle of the first millennium, and there is evidence for Egyptian, Phoenician, Roman and even Hebrew exploration much earlier.

Hi Karolina,
If you listen to celebrities like Bono (of U2), Bob Geldorf and others, you would believe that the only way to help Africa is through continual handouts of cash and aid. From my perspective this only fosters dependency. It would be far better to help African nations become economically and financially self-sufficient.
I think an interesting article might be to focus on one or two Africans who are trying to introduce capitalist ideas and entrepreneurial practices to Africa.
