This is a very sad situation for everyone involved. The teacher obviously has some mental problems going on to have involved a student of hers in a sexual relationship with her. The student was old enough to know better but I'm sure he was flattered by her interest in him and his hormones got the best of him. The husband probably shot the wrong person. She can't be tried for murder but she certainly has some serious legal problems to face and she's ruined her teaching career. There's nothing positive to be said about the whole thing. I feel great sadness for the boy's family and friends. Their lives have been changed forever by this. The young man who killed the boy has damaged his life forever. Like ripples on the lake one woman's poor decision has now reached out to touch and hurt many.

No because they did not commit the murder. The were the orginal event that started the whole thing but a person is responsible for their own actions and the 2 are seperate issues.

That would be like saying that the waiter who brought your meal cold should be charged for the beating you gave your kids or that you should be charged for any actions a bum does while drunk on the charity money you gave him/her. Should we charge the family of a thief since he steals to support them?

I do not condone what the teacher did (although i will admit I wanna know where all these sexual female schoolteachers were when I was in school) but her crime does not make her to blame for the actions of other people.

The law needs to be fair and just...not an emotional over reaction to the crime or we are not better than a mindless mob

Suppose your significant other finds out you were cheating, and motivated by anger and vengeance goes to your paramour's house and brutally rapes the paramour. The significant other's sole motivation was your cheating with this person; they'd never even HEARD of the paramour until this happened. Should you be tried for rape? Of course not.

For the same reason, your proposal makes no sense.

The teacher and her husband were not acting jointly, but committed two separate crimnal acts. She had sex with a student; he killed the student.

Since they weren't co-conspirators, there is no way to find the wife liable as an accomplice for murder.

The teacher's actions were reprehensible and criminal in their own right, but she cannot be rightly blamed for her husband's actions.

If you think about this logically, it makes sense. Why should you be liable for an act which in which you did not participate (even as an accomplice or coconspirator)?

The whole thing is just sad...
I feel for the Husband & the family of the boy that was shot.

He did kill someone so he should be punished. What that punishment should be...that I am not sure about. I am sure he did it under extreme duress...
I am curious to see what the rest of Yahoo has to say...

No instructor, no count if male of woman has any corporation having a relationship with a pupil. that's professionally and in my opinion irresponsible and unlawful. women human beings look on a roll by using having a mild touch in punishment. All instructors could be dealt with strongly.

Statutory rape is not a capital crime. It is based on an arbitrary decision about age of consent. Did she commit a crime? Yes, statutory rape. She should be punished accordingly.
