Creative ideas, please! I want to do something nice for my husband for his birthday in May that he'll really like. I'm looking for a hint type thing that leads up to the day of. . . with clues or a game or something. Not sure what, but I want to do something that takes thinking, time, and planning on my part rather than a lot of money.

Details: We have an infant and a preschooler so we can't get away for more than a couple of hours. He works 12 hour shifts and a lot of overtime. We don't have any extra money, but I could probably come up with 30 bucks by then. I do have his parents available to watch the kids for a few hours if necessary. We could travel anywhere between Ft. Myers and Tampa. Orlando is a bit far, but may be in that area one day around that time.

The reason I can't get away for more than a couple of hours is because I'm nursing the baby still.

honey i don't know what to tell you about your husbands present ,but if you put this much effort into planning it i am sure he will love it , i can tell you from one parent to another , when you are the parents of young children the best thing you can give each other is time and one on one attention free of the children to remind yourselves your were once lovers long before you were parents, if your lives are anything like mine and my husbands you deserve more than a few stolen
hours,my suggestion to you is to start pumping milk now and freeze it , even if by hand you don't need a pump for a one day outing, I'm sure he will love time well spent with you more than anything else!

getting rid of the kids is a good start. Then have a candle lite dinner. Maybe his favorite meal. And rent a mushy movie and have quality alone time, snuggled up on the sofa. Then come back to reality when it is time for the kids to come home. Enjoying each other does not take any money,.
good luck.

Get a new sexy bathing suit and hit the beach for the day then have a romantic dinner. If need be get a babysitter so you can spend more time just the two of you.

He wants to feel appreciated. I know this sounds corny but I recommend a certificate of appreciation to the greatest husband in the whole world. Frame it and hang it where everyone can see.
