Ok, i was hoping you guys might be able to help me out. i have to do a survey for a research project and have to ask a variety of people, but being a stay at home mom makes that kinda hard. So if anyone would be willing to answer these questions i would be so grateful!

1.How old are you?
2. Are you male or female?
3. Do you believe in capital punishement?
4. If you do not believe in capital punishement, what would you suggest as a good alternative for murderers, rapists, etc.?

Also, I would be interested if anyone wanted to add a religious element to it, like are christians more against capital punishment that non christian?

Thanks:)

Capital punishment is needed since the prison population is overcrowded with people in there for drug sentences that are outrageous. Child molesters get in an out of jail and there is no rehabilitation for a child molester. Therefore he or she is no use to society. If you are no use to society, you should go away.

1.) 24
2.) female
3.) no
4.) I think a good alternative would be to extend imprisionment.

I am a female, aged 61. No, I do not believe in Capital punishment for several reasons, tho I know I am the minority. I believe the only one that needs to take a life is God. If He wants the murderer, the rapists, whoever dead, He will take their life. God often calls us to war, for keep our freedom to worship Him. But, God says Do NOT KILLL, actual term was do not murder, which is different from acting in self defense. But, only God can give life and ONly God should be able to end a life. Many Christians I know are for capital punishment, and feel it is Gods vengence. But, God says vengence belongs to Him. What if a murderer or a rapist on death row, was to finally meet God and accdept Him? They would be saved. Them dying doesnt bring the other person back. And then, some good would come from it. Not a total waste of life. If we knew the families these criminals come from, we would not be shocked at how they turn out. Does that execuse the horrid behavior? No, absolutely Not. But, we must see them as the innocent victims they once were as little kids before life so messed them up and made them so mean. And, to pray for them, love them, and forgive them, praying they turn to Jesus before its too late.
Your next question was, what to do with them then? I have no problem with that one either.
We can love and forgive them, and pray for them, but still they must be removed from society if they plan to continue hurting other ppl. an absolute.
But, when we put ppl in prisons, I dont think they should be ran as they are today. Giving them so many rights and privilegs that even us outsiders dont have. Yet, they are beaten and raped, and crime goes on there as it does on the outside. If we can put a man on the moon, we can run a prison without drugs and violence. Just someone has to care more and do more. No, not needing more money either. Just keep them seperate and working too, providing for themselves. I am a firm believer that a prison should be self sufficient, growing their own foods, all of it and providng for their own way and paying the staff,e tc It should not costs us to pay their way. I recently heard of a guy wanting a sex change and wants us to pay for it, he is a prisoner. ludicrous. If another man outside wanted that, he has to pay for it, so let that guy pay for his own. I sympathize with them knowing they were treated bad or they wouldnt be there. BUt, they should be treated like humans, not trash and they should not have rights that we dont have, they need to pay their own way,and not cost society a ton of money. Many wouldnt be so eager to go back either. Having to have an actual job, with guards watching them constantly, not turning their heads for some drug deal. etc. I also believe they should be allowed to be taught about God, and about forgiveness and to learn it is never too late to turn their life around. Not the secular counceling today, but Christian counceling that helps them forgive who hurt them, and forgive themselves, and begin to live a good life, not continuing to be a risk for others.
If we just kill them, they have no chance to find Jesus. No chance to be saved. and we will be held accountible for murdering them. those that participate. Also, today so much stuff goes on, ppl are now found innocent after years of being inside, with new dna evidence. What if we are putting to death someone who in reality is innocent?
For me, the only logical choice is to not kill them, but to try and help them , and keep them locked up as long as they are a danger to anyone, even to themselves.
But, let them know there is a God that can so easily forgive them. They just gotta ask.
Great question. One I have thought about for a long time. I am the minority , but I am surely not alone.
God bless you for asking this question. Be prepared for many violent answers as ppl today have little regard to anyone else. its easy to say KILL THEM, and not realize they by this attitude, we are becoming as hateful as they were to do the crime. Hate and lack of forgivness is contagious and spreads like wildfire. Lets stop it and stopp all the killing, and the pain. Jesus saves. Jesus forgives. and GOD IS LOVE
